Lazy Sunday; COVID cases drop in Ireland

Today marks one month since my arrival to Dublin. I stayed up late watching Halloween movies, so I slept in later than normal. The weather is wet and windy. I’ve stayed in all day, and it’s been a lazy day overall… eating breakfast, goofing off on my phone, trimming my beard, doing laundry.

Some good news — it appears the daily number of new COVID-19 cases in Ireland has dropped from the 1,000+ surge down to under 400 yesterday. Hopefully this trend continues and the populace doesn’t relax their social distancing behaviours too quickly. Ireland’s country-wide lockdown is supposed to be in place until December 1st, so it’s still going to be a long month ahead. Meanwhile, other countries in Europe are having to impose more lockdowns of their own, including France and the UK. Maybe Ireland’s head start will pay off?

The U.S. election continues to be followed closely in the Irish press. Yesterday I received a text message from the SF Department of Elections saying my ballot has been received by the post office and will be delivered to them soon. So I guess the US Embassy came through after all? I should get another confirmation after my ballot has been received and counted.
