Donuts and evening walk

It’s been a rather ho-hum birthday. The weather is grey and drizzly. I sleep in late, goof around on my phone for awhile reading news articles, and respond to texts and emails from family and friends. For a late lunch I make a sandwich of some leftover BBQ pulled pork accompanied by mac & cheese. It’s getting dark around 5:00pm now, and I decide to get out for a quick walk before it gets any later. My incentive is to pick up some donuts as a birthday treat. There are actually a number of donut places in Dublin, which seems to follow foodie trends much like cities in the U.S. There are even some places that specialise in cronuts (yes, those are still a thing).

I follow the Liffey eastward to one of the Offbeat Donuts shops (a local chain) located along the  Georges Quay.  I get a box of three flavours: Toffee Crispy, Caramel Ring, and Nutella Ring.

Even though I already have more than enough donuts, I decide to walk by a couple of other donut establishments just to check them out. Crossing northward over the Liffey on O’Connell Street, I pass by a small kiosk location of The Rolling Donut chain:
A few blocks up O’Connell is another shop called The Hot Donut:
Along the way, I take a few other photos showing how Dublin looks after dark since most of my photos in previous posts have been in the daylight.
The Customs House, opposite of Georges Quay, that was burned down in the 1921 during the war for independence but then rebuilt and currently home to the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage:

Until next time…
