It’s been a lazy Saturday. I am slow moving in the morning, then my friend O. from Strasbourg calls, and we end up talking for around 2 hours. I catch up on a few neglected emails with friends, and by the time I look up more than half the day is gone. It’s clear out but colder today, highs in the upper 40s F / 13 C. It would be a shame not to get out and enjoy the rainless weather, so I text my friend CJ to see if he’s available for meeting up later. We make plans to have an early dinner at a place called Wallace’s Taverna on the Orsay Quay, just on the other side of the Liffey on the Millenium Bridge (the area is known as Dublin’s “Little Italy”). They have a few outdoor tables with heaters and a windscreen, which seems like the wiser choice given that most of the tables inside are taken and they’re not that far apart from each other. It turns out being quite relaxing and pleasant, actually, and we’re the only ones sitting outside so it’s easy to hold a conversation without the indoor noise. A carafe of wine to share, some olives for an appetizer, a good sized pizza each, and an extra glass of wine comes to €38 each with tip.

The pizzas were quite good, very thin-crust authentic Italian style:
Another favourite holiday treat of mine is brown butter and bourbon rice krispie treats… fairly straightforward and self-explanatory to make from the photos below, although I think the marshmallow-to-rice cereal was a little off because they came out somewhat crumbly and dry. I’m still getting used to converting cups/ounces in recipes to ingredients that are measured in grams.
Until next time…
