Another homebody day

I’m still working on my daily schedule and routine, ideally shifting it earlier so that I have more productive time in the morning for job applications etc. Today I catch up on the various job postings I’ve flagged in my email inbox and add them to my action plan spreadsheet. There are several applications for me to submit over the next week or so. I’m still mulling over whether or not to pursue a CMA credential, but it seems like a good idea. In the meantime, I’m stuck at home waiting for a package delivery. It’s warmer today but overcast with showers off and on, although tomorrow’s forecast looks more promising. I’ve been feeling a little foggy headed from being inside so much, and I’m sure getting out for a walk would help.

A sped-up rain forecast:

On the health insurance front, my friend T reached out to let me know that under California law continuation of health coverage can be extended an additional 18 months past the Federal COBRA period through Cal-COBRA. This is reassuring. The package that arrived today from my sister included a 3-month supply of my two regular prescription meds, so that’s also a big relief.

Throughout the day I listen to RTÉ Radio’s coverage of the Mother and Baby Homes Report. The afternoon talk shows feature survivors who are calling in to share their stories, including some women who aren’t that much older than me who were sent to homes after becoming pregnant outside of marriage at a young age. It’s a very heavy topic, as one would imagine. These tragic stories go to show the extent to which the Catholic church dominated Irish society, even to the point of usurping the government’s power and duty of care. Taoiseach Micheál Martin gave an official apology and promised restitution for the victims.

SuperValu’s grocery delivery slots are becoming harder to come by… I just started my next order today, expecting I could reserve my usual Friday morning time, but the next available slot wasn’t until Tuesday of next week. Apparently grocery stores in Northern Ireland have been experiencing shortages due to supply chain hiccups after Brexit, so I’m not complaining.

Until next time….
