Another week comes to an end, another bachelor Friday night

Another week comes to an end… it’s becoming more difficult to interrupt the monotonous rhythm of lockdown. My weekly grocery order is delivered by a new person, Liam, who is a very Irish man in stature and personality, probably a few years older than me. As he’s unloading the bins of blue plastic bags containing my items, he chats me up asking where I was from (know full well I’m American from my accent).  When I said Texas, he says he thinks he’s flown over the state. He’s also visited Key West, which I never have. The Irish are a well traveled lot.

I’ve caught up on my CMA studies, and there aren’t any new job postings that have caught my eye. I spend some time diving down the rabbit hole of LinkedIn, finding a few other organisations in the Ireland nonprofit sector to follow and reconnecting with a college friend.

The weather hasn’t been great this week and has become chillier as the days have passed. This afternoon, I get out for a somewhat aimless stroll over to the northside and through the urban landscape of Dublin, clocking in around 7,000 steps. My walking buddy CJ has been incommunicado, although we connect later in the evening to catch up.

Some random photos from my walk…

Some patches of blue in the otherwise grey weather:

This evening I watch the finale of WandaVision, a Marvel superhero series on Disney +, synchronously with my friend J whom I haven’t seen in awhile due to lockdown. I also have a video chat with CJ to catch up since we haven’t gone on a walk together this week. For the duration of my Friday night, I’m settling into some pizza and whiskey — a familiar bachelor habit.

Until next time….
