Sunny weather, walk to Docklands and back

I’m feeling very sedentary, having not gotten out at all yesterday. I don’t have any plans, except for a tentative coffee meetup that falls through last minute. Inertia tells me to stay in and do more CMA studying. However, after a late breakfast and some puttering around the apartment, I decide that I have to get out and enjoy the sunnier weather — a reward for passing my practice exam yesterday.

I head eastward towards the Trinity College Dublin campus and then on to Pearse Street. I stop by the Pig & Heifer deli, one of my favourite places to grab a sandwich to go, then continue walking another few blocks to the Docklands. Lots of people are out and about enjoying the weather. I find a place to sit down where I can enjoy my lunch with a splendid view of the Grand Canal. As the sun moves through the afternoon sky, more of the plaza becomes shaded from the large tech buildings to the west. so I move over to another free spot in the sun. Now it’s actually becoming a little too crowded, and a small group sits down on the same concrete block where I’m sitting. Even though we’re not facing towards each other, it’s a little too close for my comfort so I decide to move along. I head north over the Samuel Beckett bridge and claim a bench alongside the riverfront all to myself. I sit for awhile listening to some podcasts, enjoying the sun on my face, and lots of people watching.

Around 5:30pm I head back towards home. I noticed this lone swan swimming up the Liffey, seemingly in command of the entire river:

Until next time….
