Restaurants re-open, holidays in full swing

Today restaurants reopened both outdoor and indoor seating without many restrictions at all (pubs and bars not serving food are still closed). I’m not in a particular rush to dine in a crowded restaurant, but I did get out for a coffee with a friend and enjoyed sitting inside, especially given the drizzly weather today. Dublin is in full swing holiday mode. The lights and decorations really make for a magical feeling here. New COVID cases were recorded at under 200 yesterday, but I’m sure Ireland will see an increase in the coming weeks.

There’s not too much else exciting to report today. My weekly SuperValu grocery delivery arrived around 11am. In the afternoon, I caught up with email and applied for another job — a 3 month contract Finance Administrator position in higher education (it was posted by a recruiter, so it’s unclear exactly where it would be). Any opportunity that would give me some work experience in Ireland would be helpful, even if it’s short term. I think it’s a tough sell being an outsider with only U.S. experience.

The namesake of Temple Bar, “The Temple Bar,” goes all out with its holiday decorations. As I passed by I noticed patrons inside, so apparently it serves food.
