Today I finally received an initial offer from University College Dublin! The additional reference I provided earlier in the week for my time at UC Berkeley was accepted and approved by the hiring manager, whew. The salary is at the top of the range for the position, although it’s still considerably less than what I used to make in the U.S. That said, it’s much more than what Jigsaw could pay and of course any job is better than nothing at this point. We still have to finalize the start date and contract. I’ve asked the recruiter if I could start a week later than we originally discussed, because I would really like an opportunity to travel at least some around Ireland before going back to work. Hopefully this request will be approved, and I’ll get the contract tomorrow.
With less than a week to go before the second CMA exam next Wednesday, I’m feeling the pressure to ratchet up my studying. The stress from the back-and-forth with UCD about references, and other annoyances such as being stuck at home over the past three days waiting for a UPS package with my prescription meds from the U.S. to delivered, has been mentally and emotionally draining. I haven’t been out much this week, but at least the rainier weather has made me feel less guilty about staying in so much. I’m reminding myself that once I’m on the other side of the CMA exam, I’ll be able to relax more… at least until my scores come back.
Since I’ve been stuck at home, the only photos I have to share are of my neighbor Irene’s garden that spills over into the front of my apartment. The bright flowers and decorative touches make Sprangers Yard feel much more like a home.
Until next time….
