Final CMA exam prep, COVID update and EU travel certificate

CMA Exam

Yesterday I completed a full 4-hour exam simulation on my study programme’s website, although I only scored 69% (the target is 86%). The programme recommends taking it easy the day before the exam, but today I’m doing some more practise questions and reviewing the ones I’ve missed. I’m sure if I wasn’t doing the study programme in a compressed timeline then I might have better retention of the information, although I’ve followed all the steps and completed the practise tests for each section, so I’m not sure how much more I could be prepared. Also, an email arrived to my inbox yesterday with the results of my first CMA exam in May. I decided not to open it until after I’ve taken the second exam, just in case I didn’t pass… that would be very discouraging. Fingers crossed!

COVID update

Ireland has now surpassed the U.S. in terms of the percentage of the population who have received at least one vaccination dose, 55.92% to 55.06%. However, the U.S. is still ahead of most EU countries in terms of the percentage of the population who are fully vaccinated, or around 48%, although I suspect Europe will catch up soon. Meanwhile, the number of new COVID cases in Ireland continues to rise due to the Delta variant. The government is moving forward with plans to reopen indoor dining and bar service next week on July 26, with a bill going to the Dáil (the Irish parliament) today. There are some opposition TDs (Teachtaí Dála aka parliament members) who are questioning how this will actually work in terms of people showing proof of vaccination etc. Others also question whether the reopening should be delayed in light of the increase in cases from the Delta variant.

EU digital COVID travel certificate

Today I received my EU Digital COVID Travel Certificate via email. Apparently you can either print the certificate or have a digital version of it on your phone for scanning at airports etc. There doesn’t appear to be a special mobile app for the certificate, so I tried to add the QR code to my Apple Wallet app on my iPhone, but I got the error saying “no usable data found.” I’m not sure what this means… hopefully it will actually work when I need to use it. Here’s what it looks like (with details blurred):

Until next time….
