Another low key weekend

The weather was clear and relatively warm on Saturday (high in mid 60s F, ~20 C). I did some routine chores around the apartment, and my weekly SuperValu grocery delivery arrived later than usual. In the afternoon I met up with a new friend, M, for lunch and a walk. He’s one of the many immigrants from Poland in Ireland and has been here 5 years. It was good conversation, although he lives outside Dublin so I probably won’t see him for awhile.

For the most part, I’ve been able to put the stressful situation at work out of mind, although a few fleeting thoughts have popped into my head. UCD is starting a trial period for a “hybrid” working arrangement in September. It sounds like I’ll be going into the office 2-3 times a week starting soon. It’s nice not having a commute when working from home, but it’ll be good not to be stuck in the apartment so much.

The weather on Sunday has been overcast for most of the day, although the sun broke through the clouds for a short while in the afternoon. I got out of the apartment to pick up a few grocery items that were missing from my SuperValu order. Otherwise, I stayed in and took it easy for most of the day. I decided to make a nice home-cooked dinner — pork medallions in a lemon thyme cream sauce with roasted broccoli — one of my favourites that I’m sure I’ve mentioned in a previous post. I haven’t been putting much effort into cooking for the past few months, so a “dinner date for one” was a treat.

Until next time….
