June bank holiday weekend

I’ve taken a break from blog posts the past couple of weeks. Work has continued to be busy, and I’ve been going into the office 1-2 times a week. My social life has been muted. I came down with cold symptoms last weekend and have done several antigen tests but haven’t tested positive for Covid. The symptoms have abated almost completely except for some light chest congestion. In the meantime, it’s been six weeks since my arm surgery and I no longer have to wear a brace. I still need to be careful not to overdo it with my right arm. The OT nurse at the hospital said I should be hearing from a physical therapist, but so far nothing.

It’s the long June bank holiday weekend. Originally I had plans to get out of Dublin for a small trip with some friends, but I canceled those plans after I got sick earlier in the week. The weather has been rainy and cooler over the last couple of days, but today (Monday) has turned out to be better. I forced myself out for a walk without any particular destination in mind. I headed to the northside, ambling up Capel Street, over to Smithfield, up to Stoneybatter, across to Phibsborough, and back down to Capel Street. Summer is in the air, and the sun doesn’t set until almost 10:00pm. It’s been good to get out of the apartment.

Stoneybatter
Cute home down a small street in Phibsborough area
Smithfield Square with the old Jameson distillery chimney
St. Mary’s Chapel of Ease (aka the Black Church)
Capel Street

Until next time….
