Hunt for hair clippers

It’s been more than 3 months now since my last haircut, and it’s really starting to bother me now. Hairdressers and barbers have been closed since before Christmas, and it’s not sounding like they open anytime soon… the government is expected to announce soon which restrictions (if any) will be eased in April.

Deciding to take matters into my own hands, I set out in search for some hair clippers. I search multiple locations of a beauty/pharmacy chain called Boots, and while they did have some options in stock, I don’t find what I’m after. There’s an inexpensive corded Philips model online that appeals to me (I’m not a big fan of rechargeable clippers). I try to find it in stock at Ireland retailers, but none seem to have any availability for a week or longer, so I end up ordering them from Amazon UK for a guaranteed Tuesday delivery. I’ll have to tolerate a few more days of shagginess.

It’s overcast and windy today, but dry, with a high only around 50 F / 11 C. Some places in Ireland got snow last night. Despite the colder weather, lots of people are out and about for walks, coffee with friends, and shopping. The grocery shops have long queues of people waiting to be let in.

The Beacon Hospital, which I mentioned in yesterday’s post, may be suspended from administering from COVID-19 vaccines due to the scandal over giving extra doses to teachers and staff at a private school. Also, apparently three travelers who were subject to the newly implemented hotel quarantine have slipped away during a smoking break, and now the Gardai are looking for them.

Until next time….
