Power outage, walk along Liffey, lap desk for CMA studies

It’s been a rather uneventful day. There are a couple of other job postings that I’ve flagged on my to-do list. Around mid-day, the power goes out so I tether my laptop to my phone’s network connection to finish and submit an application for a remote finance officer role at a climate action organisation based in the UK. My neighbor Irene is outside on the hallway/deck of the building, tending to her plants.  She says that the power outage is due to a construction project nearby and might not come back on until 4:00pm. Thankfully it’s restored in about an hour.

Later in the afternoon, I get out for a decent walk along the northside of the Liffey heading westward and back. The weather is much better than forecasted, with partial cloudy skies with highs in mid 50s F / low 10s C, although it’s fairly windy.

Earlier on, I stayed in most of the afternoon waiting for the delivery of a lap desk I ordered on Amazon UK. The large surface is made out of bamboo with a cushion underneath. It’s not so much for my laptop, which I usually prop on top of a pillow while I’m sitting on the couch. Instead, I’m planning on using the lap desk as a writing surface for my CMA exam studies — since I’ll only have paper and a pencil/pen to work out problems and formulas during the actual exam, it makes sense to use the same method when doing practice tests. Also, one strategy I’ve read for the various formulas that must be memorized is to write them down on paper at the beginning of the exam for reference to save time when working through the questions, so I’ll be practicing doing that over and over.

Until next time….
