Relaxed Saturday, a delicious tasting menu of Indian dishes at Roe Distillery

It’s been a relaxing Saturday. I slept in a bit then had a relaxed breakfast until my my SuperValu grocery delivery arrived early around 10:15am. Since I’m caught up with my CMA studies, I spend a several hours working on my blog migration project. So far, it seems that Blogger’s email subscription feed is still working, although I’m expecting it to stop any day now. By the end of the afternoon I have ironed out most of the wrinkles with my new blog site and email service. I should be in good shape for the switch-over soon.

This evening my buddy CJ and I splurged on a special food experience that we had booked weeks ago when outdoor dining first opened up in Ireland. The Roe Distillery in the Dublin 8 district is hosting a food series this summer featuring different cuisines from local restaurants. The featured restaurant this week is a place called Pickle that specializes in North Indian cuisine. The food was prepared in a small food truck / trailer, and the distillery created special cocktails to pair with the food. Everything was incredibly delicious! Despite the forecast for rain, it only sprinkled a little bit on our way there in a taxi. We were seated at outdoor upscale picnic-style tables that were covered with canopies, and it was the perfect temperature in the mid 60s F / high 10s C with a slight breeze.

The prix fixe tasting menu included:

• Papadam served with pickled sauces and panipuri (round hollow balls) served with a coriander, mint and spice infused extract poured into them at the table

• Delhi potato cake with date and tamarind chutney

• Crab meat salad with onion, chili, mango, pickled prawn and corn samosa

• “Goat on Toast” — goat mince curry with shallots, garlic and black cardamom served with homemade maska pao bread

• Vanilla panna cotta with berries

The streets of Dublin city centre continue to be a lively scene of sidewalk eateries and pubs.

Until next time….
