Lazy Saturday, parsnip fries

It’s a grey, cold day In Dublin. I’ve been a homebody, taking my time with the usual routine of breakfast and reading/watching news, puttering around the house, doing laundry, etc. After signing up for the CMA prep course yesterday, I’ve received a few into emails to get me started with the programme, but I’m allowing myself a lazy weekend before starting in earnest next week. I’m feeling a bit scraggly since it’s been over a month since my last haircut right before Christmas, so this afternoon I set about trimming up my beard — a process I do manually with scissors, which takes awhile and makes a mess of the bathroom — but it feels much better once I’m done.

I haven’t been cooking anything interesting lately, but tonight I whip up some air-fried parsnip fries for a snack (the recipe calls for a touch of maple syrup) — they turned out really well! I only had a few leftover parsnips that had been languishing in the refrigerator, so it didn’t yield a big batch, but I would definitely make it again. In addition to ketchup, they’d probably go great with some aioli.

My friend M is DJing his usual Saturday night slot on the Pirate FM Dublin internet radio station. I also catch up with some friends over text messages. It’s not the same as hanging out with friends in person, but it still keeps me company. My plans for the rest of the evening are watching Netflix under a blanket.

Until next time….
